At Elemental CrossFit we take programming very seriously. It’s the foundation of everything we do and your results and success rely upon it heavily. Straight from the CrossFit Level 1 Training Guide you will find that “CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of the 10 fitness domains. They are cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.” In order to optimize this competence a well thought out, well rounded programming methodology must be used.
Elemental uses a “team” approach to it’s programming. The “team” consists of the CrossFit Level 1 Trainers on staff at Elemental and the team meets on a regular basis to build the programming. The programming is done in blocks of 3 or 4 weeks and this is done so that we can ensure that there is proper emphasis given to covering the 10 fitness domains via properly varied modalities and time domains. What does all of this mean? Simply stated, it means that our programming is put together with consideration of previous workouts, how long they took, how hard they were, how many movements were included in the workout and what were the types of movements in the workout. We also took the approach of blending the 3 on 1 off and 5 on 2 off workout regimen. What this means is that we take careful consideration of how many hard, medium and easier days we have and what order they fall in.
By using this systematic approach we can ensure that we have the right blend of workouts that will suit the needs of our members. This approach also ensures that we have the right mix of movements so that everyone has a chance to improve on their weaknesses and excel further with their strengths. This approach also takes careful consideration of every members safety, health and overall wellbeing.
We don’t limit this approach to the daily workouts “WODs” either as we also use this same systematic approach to program our daily weightlifting and performance sections. By having our daily “WODs” programmed out far into the future, we can look at what movements are coming up and include them ahead of time in our strength and performance. Think about it…by using this approach on the daily weightlifting and performance we are able to give you two very important things; 1) You get extra focus time on an area of your choice and 2) We can prepare you for movements, loads, cardio or any other aspect of future workouts. We don’t want to program any movement and have you perform it for the first time in X amount of time during the actual workout. We also do not want to ask you to perform weightlifting 1RM on a lift that you haven’t touched in weeks.
At Elemental CrossFit EVERYTHING we do is MEMBER FOCUSED.
